COMPLETED Pistons Half-Time Extravaganza – February 5, 2020
UPDATE: PERFORMANCE IS AT HALFTIME
BUT TIMELINE IS UNCHANGED!!!!!!!!
Our Teams will Gather at the Olympia Sign at 6:30 for release of personal items to our designated responsible person, prep, line-up, etc. See details and diagrams below.
Email from Pistons Administration has Arrived!
Quoting Brandon Goebel, Piston’s Coordinator:
Please share this information with all performers doing the Halftime Performance. They must follow these instructions.
HALFTIME PERFORMANCE IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- All performers must be dressed and ready to go when arriving at the arena
- Please have all performers enter the Huntington Entrance (shown in yellow star on below map)
- At 7:05 pm please have all performers meet at the Olympia Sign near the former Kid Rock Restaurant to meet me (Indicated on the attached map with a Pink Star). From there I will take the group down to the Loading Dock to be able to rehearse before Halftime. (Please don’t leave that area unless you have a Pistons rep to escort you)
- Start of 2nd quarter I will take all performers to the Zamboni Tunnel to get their props and ready to go on the court.
- All performers must sign the waiver and hand to me before performing
- Once the performance is completed I will take performers up to the main concourse so that they can go to their seats to enjoy the game
- Listed below is a link that you can share with performers pertaining to where to park and buying parking passes ahead of time.

He also answered some follow-up questions:
- Are there any limitations on camera/lens sizes for our families who will be documenting the event? You can bring a camera in, but it can’t be a professional camera with a large lens or attach lens
- Can we have a couple of our non-performing team members be on the outside of the court to video our performance? We will have signed waivers for them.
I would recommend they don’t we will have video of the performance that we can share with you. We are at our max with the number of people allowed near / on the court. - Will there be a place where the performers can leave their coats? We will try to arrange that a family member will convey any valuables up to the seats with them. But, do you have any minor stowing accommodations?
We can have them put their coats in Loading Dock while practicing and then Zamboni Tunnel while waiting for Halftime. Please try to have family members take their items if you can. - Can we bring our own water bottles or snacks?
No, you cannot. Prohibited items at Little Caesars Arena include, but are not limited to, bottles, cans, liquid containers, coolers, outside food and beverages, weapons of any kind, laser light pointers, flagpoles, air horns, and umbrellas. - Is there a size limit for our bags?
Yes, there is. Bags, backpacks and briefcases larger than 14” x 14” x 6” are prohibited. Hard-sided bags of any kind are also prohibited. Diaper bags and medical bags are permitted. All persons and bags exiting or entering the arena will be subject to inspection. - What is the earliest time people can enter from the street?
The gates open at 5:30 and that is when everyone can get in.
Details:
We will gather at the Olympia Sign by the former Kid Rock restaurant at 6:30 pm to finalize details and receive new information. Arrive at the arena by 6:00 if possible to find your way. We will descend into the bowels of the arena at 7:05, accompanied by a Pistons escort the whole while.
Keep your personal gear(coats, etc) to a minimum. There will be a place to stow our stuff (security of location is unclear to us, though) but you can also have family take to the seats. Minimize your valuables (ID, credit card, keys, phones) to only what is necessary. We will have a backpack and baggies for Caitlyn’s Mom, Eileen, and Aunt Carol, to take up to the seats. You will not have time to take your stuff to the seats yourself.
This page will be updated as new information comes in. For now, familiarize yourself with the parking location by Masonic Temple unless you have already planned parking elsewhere Scroll down for parking details.

Team Line-Ups:
Choreography:
We will practice our line-ups before going to the loading dock with Brandon. We will practice the entry and exit walking in the loading dock / Zamboni corridor.
From the Zamboni Tunnel we will enter the arena. We will go to our locations on the end sides of the court in line-up, make our formations under the baskets and stand facing the center stage … ready to go! The drummers will perform for 2 minutes. IMMEDIATELY following their performance our music will start and we will do our Tai Chi while the dancers are performing on stage. After, we will all move closer to the stage as the dignitaries exchange gifts (Chinese Consulate fr. Chicago & Pistons). From there, we will turn and exit still in formation.
After our performance, we will go get our free gifts and then go to our seats to watch the game. After the game, we can go on the court to shoot our free throw.

Today’s concentrated practice was very successful, although we chose a relatively simple boxing, fighting is not easy. Karla is a good leader, a good captain. She has strong organizational skills and is also very caring. I believe our team will be great in the communication meeting. There are still a few people missing from the meeting today, and our team may be expanded. Please try your best to participate in intensive practice, improve your level, and have the best performance in the meeting. Thanks everyone, our taichi love team will be a success!
